Ina Wroldsen Is The Voice Behind Calvin Harris’ Latest Hit Track

Calvin Harris has always been known for his catchy, mainstream rythmic chart toppers and his latest track, “How Deep Is Your Love”, is no different. Already charting on Billboard and sporting over 6 million plays on YouTube, Calvin’s latest track is on its way to being one of his best.

While the catchy rhythm plays a crucial role on the new track, it’s the vocals that steal the show. Performed by the beautiful Ina Wroldsen, “How Deep Is Your Love” was originally the vocalist’s idea:

“I’m a writer first, and in cases like this you put your emotions aside. I wrote that song with Disciples about 18 months ago. Calvin heard it, loved it and wanted to put it out as his own single.”

After a bit of a back and forth, Calvin would eventually go on to publish the song under his name, keeping Ina Wroldsen on the vocals.

“I had the idea in the car,” she recalls, “and the [Disciples] boys were like, ‘Let’s write house!’ I said I didn’t know how to do that and they were like, ‘Just try.’ So we wrote the song and I sang it — what you hear is literally one take.”

Although Ina was not credited, she still played a vital roll in the creation of the pop-house banger. NY Post explains why, even though she was a crucial part of the track, she was not credited:

“Uncredited singers aren’t new in house and techno: Martha Wash had to sue to be acknowledged as the pipes behind hits like “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” by C+C Music Factory and “Everybody Everybody” by Black Box. More recently, you had to dig to learn that Aloe Blacc sings Avicii’s “Wake Me Up.” And Wroldsen points out the trend may be spreading from EDM to pop.”
