The Don’t Miss Acts of the Weekend; A Guide to Summer Set Music Festival

Nestled up north, east of Minneapolis lies Somerset, Wisconsin. A place that stays relatively peaceful for most of the year except for one weekend in August when Summer Set Music Festival takes over. With powerhouse headliners Bassnectar, Big Gigantic, The Weeknd, and Deadmau5 Summer Set is sure to rock this little town come next month.

And we want your weekend to rock as best as it can so to help make that possible I asked our team who they would want to see and came up with our own personal list of what artists are a must see over the course of those three days.

Top 5 Artists To See

1) Deadmau5 – Sunday 9pm at the Main Stage

I feel like this one kind of goes with out saying and what a way to close out a festival too. The last time Deadmau5 made an appearance in the midwest was about 4 years ago so to have him back is definitely a treat for everyone in attendance. And on top of that just a few days ago he released new music for the online game, DOTA 2. You can check out the preview for it below as well as purchase the full music back here.

2) Tchami – Saturday 8:15pm at The Big Top Stage

We have seen a lot come from Tchami so far this month of July with his After Life Remixes and his newest hit with AC Slater and Kaleem Taylor [both of which you can check out below]. There isn’t much else to say that this guy has been putting out some great music as of late so who wouldn’t want to catch a piece of that live?

3) Robert Delong – Friday 5:30pm at The Grove stage

“One of the best live performances around.” is what Lucas Sachs, one of our writer’s, told me. I haven’t had the chance to catch Robert Delong live as of yet but now i’m very much itching to do so especially after listening to a remix he put out earlier this month of ZZ Ward’s “Love 3X”. He definitely seems like a solid start to a Friday night.

4) Thievery Corporation – Saturday 9:30pm at The Meadow stage

We recently released an interview with Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation (which you can check out here) where he discussed new music as well as his inspiration behind his new trippy video “Blue Agave”, check it out on Youtube. He had written the song while driving through the agave fields of Mexico and later went on to work on it while in the studio. His reasoning behind all of it really interested me as well as listening to his new EP “Your Calling” which is why adding Thievery Corp to this list just seemed natural.

5) Audien – Friday 7:30pm at The Big Top

To be honest I have never really listened to Audien before but at the beginning of the month a collab was released with him and the country stars Lady Antebellum entitled “Something Better”. While country alone can be a genre that most tend to steer clear of it has become apparent that other producers have began adapting it into their music, such as Avicii and Keith Urban with Nile Rodgers. So while the song may be a bit of a stretch for some listeners who don’t favor country I found to be a great mix of Audien’s sound and the great voices that make up Lady Antebellum and it got me interested in what else he has to offer during his set.
