I guess the new trend is to close your set with an iconic ballad. Last year, DJ Snake closed his UME set with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” then Bixel Boys ended their debut performance at this year’s EDC Las Vegas with “Seasons of Love” from the famous play Rent. At Tomorrowland, Steve Aoki took a shot at it too, but instead of just playing out a somber tune, Aoki decided to bring a little bit of mayhem to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” the mega-hit from the 1998 film Titanic. The track started the same as the original, with a flute melody under Celine Dion’s vocals, then gives way to a big room drop instead of the emotional release we’ve come to expect during the song. Regardless of the amount of people who openly criticize Aoki’s antics and productions, you have to admit there’s never a dull moment when you see him live.
