Thomas Jack today unveils his first original mix in what feels like over a year. “Rivers” is vintage Jack – the dance music tastemaker and man partly behind the tropical house craze has turned in a stellar offering. A top line courtesy of Jack McManus and Tim Woodcock sits beautifully within soft guitar melodies and a gentle drum rack.
“Rivers” officially releases on Pete Tong‘s FFRR Records, and it’s great seeing the young Australian getting Tong support. Jack has never been all about production. Unlike his close companion Kygo, Jack is a tastemaker and a DJ almost more so than a producer. Considering, a Pete Tong nod is exactly what that sort of skill set needs. It’s tough to tell these days what can surface onto American radio, but this quality original assuredly has a chance.
