Avicii Reveals Official Remixes For Martin Garrix Collaboration “Waiting For Love”

Caution: If you don’t like opinionated reviews then you should probably just skip to the SoundCloud embeds, cause I lay it on heavy.

I’m not sure whether my taste in music has evolved to a whole other level, or whether artists and their teams are more focused on quantity over quality in the modern age of EDM … Probably the latter, but either way, the amount of underwhelming official remixes for top-tier artists that have hit the internet today is disappointing to say the least.

Avicii is the first subject of my criticisms, having just unveiled the lackluster official remix pack for “Waiting For Love,” his collaborative effort with Martin Garrix.

Featuring the likes of AutografTundranMarshmelloSam FeldtCarnage & Headhunterz and an acoustic version by Prinston & Astrid S, the names certainly aren’t lacking. But upon listening to all of the various renditions, it quickly becomes clear that Autograf were the only ones to truly step up to the plate.

One of the issues might lie in pegging three different artists who all dwell within the realm of deep and tropical house vibes, which resulted in rather bland sounding remixes from Tundran and Sam Feldt who made heavy use of the original melody in their respective versions while adding subtle hints of their own production identities. Autograf, on the other hand, approached the opportunity with a more experimental approach and took strides to create a unique sound that stands apart from their discography as well as the rest of the pack.

Check it out below.

Moving on, Marshmello continues to abuse his characteristic sound in an uninspired rendition that adds a horn flair to his typically stylized drop for a weak addition to the pack. But the truly appalling remix of the bunch comes from Carnage & Headhunterz who have assembled a disheartening attempt at a festival anthem, and that’s being nice. Listen below:
