Des McMahon‘s drum & bass releases never cease to impress me. His sound is solid, and each unique track manages to create an entirely new landscape in my mind. His newest release, “Fractured/Breathe In”, is a perfect example of his versatility within the drum & bass genre.
“Fractured” begins with a suspenseful melody and gradually builds up into waves of complex, heavy bass. This first track is extremely dark and eerie, with rough edges and a lot of movement. Accompanying track “Breathe In” is a lot lighter, with a much more prominent melody and smoother percussion. The gritty bassline is topped with airy, angelic voices and high-pitched synths.
