Disfunktion Proves Armada Is Still On Top [Armada Trice]

Earlier this week, Your EDM had the pleasure of premiering a brand new track from Progressive House/Trance duo Disfunktion’s newest release, We Were Young and Needed the Money, out on Armada Trice. Disfunktion and crew have gone public with the whole album now, and it is truly one for the books.

We Were Young is packed with progressive ear-pleasers; there’s rarely (if ever) a dull moment. The album covers a whole range of progressive styles, providing the listener with a ‘new’ sound at the start of each song. Some songs are reminiscent of Swedish House Mafia while others give off an Oliver vibe, some give off an Eric Prydz sort of feel. While listening to this album, those names kept popping up in my head, occasionally asking myself if this was actually Disfunktion or someone else. The expanse of their production talents is quite impressive, and We Were Young shows that this young duo have drawn inspiration from some of the best.

This album really stood out because of its disregard for genre definition. Tracks like “Ghost” and “Unstoppable” incorporate elements of trance, progressive and electro house, and poppy vocals. They are able to create a recognizable sound, while still being able to successfully jump from genre to genre; this is really what Disfunktion and We Were Young are all about.

Words from Disfunktion on the album:

We wanted to make a collection of tracks that we feel represents where we are at right now. With the spectrum ranging from ‘Nova’ with Fehrplay to our upcoming track ‘First Light’ we feel we have done just that and think that we can give the listener something worthwhile. We hope everyone can find something they love on ‘We Were Young And Needed The Money’ as much as we loved making it!
