New Information Revealed About Death At EDC

Several days ago, we reported on a 24 year-old’s death at this year’s EDC Las Vegas. On Day 2, out of 135,000 attendees, 408 sought on-site medical attention. There were seven emergency calls made from the speedway, resulting in transportation to a nearby hospital. While there was little to no concrete information about the death on Saturday night, we’ve finally received word on the man’s identity.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has revealed today that San Francisco’s Nicholas Austin was officially pronounced dead at 3:25 am on Sunday while on-site at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The toxicology reports, police say, will take another month or two before they’ll be able to determine the exact cause of death.

To compare, last year’s three deaths all occurred outside festival grounds.

Three people who were in Las Vegas for last year’s Electric Daisy Carnival died. One of those three had reportedly collapsed in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway after night one while the two others were found unconscious away at their respective lodgings during that weekend.

Officials have been quick to blame the weekend’s constant triple-digit heat as the main cause for the copious amount of medical attention needed. Check back here for further updates on Nicholas as the weeks continue.
