Between writing and recording, performing live sets, constant travel, and the grind of the music business, it can be difficult for artists of any genre to strike a balance between their careers and their personal lives. The case is no different for Englishman Joshua Kierkegaard G. Steele, better known as Flux Pavilion. Probably best known for his 2010 smash single “I Can’t Stop,” Flux Pavilion has also collaborated with artists as diverse as Major Lazer, Dillon Francis, and Childish Gambino.
Growing up, Josh knew from an early age that he wanted to pursue a career in music. He originally got his kicks playing TV theme songs on his keyboard as a young lad. Growing up in England, one of the preeminent scenes for not just electronic music, but music in general, Josh knew that he would have to consistently work at his craft in order to make it in the industry. Although he found success early on and is a veteran of the scene, for Josh, he draws on what he deems to be an extremely important trait as an artist, integrity.
It was a desire to do things his own way that led to Josh writing his soon-to-be released album over the past couple of years. Josh points out that he enjoys seeing music connect people and he felt that there were others like him who were simply not feeling the music being played in clubs. That, and stepping out of his comfort zone is something Josh is constantly trying to do. 
For Flux Pavilion, the music is the mission, and he wants to change the world doing it. When a club full of people are losing their shit, it’s not about the person behind the decks, it’s about the crowd. Josh also wants the world to see electronic music as a “fully creative platform.” Not more or less than anything else, just a really fun thing to do.
