This should have been over days ago.
There shouldn’t be a need to write about this days later.
Yet here we are, Day 6 of the Mat Zo Twitter Event. Still going strong.
It started out great – opening people’s eyes and forcing a lot of people to reconsider their current ideals and (possibly) misconceptions about not just the music, but the industry itself. And then by about day 3, I think a lot of us became really tired of it.
A lot of people aren’t used to critical thinking and often try to avoid it, so Mat Zo essentially made us feel tired, which was clearly projected onto him. However, by days 5 and 6, it was clear that something was going on. If you hadn’t considered it before, by this point you were thinking that this could be one of the greatest guerrilla marketing stunts this year. Whether it was his intention or not, Mat Zo engaged Diplo, Carnage, Markus Schulz, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, and more.

My comment on hurricane @Mat_Zo is that I'm in Starbucks and it's slowly dawning on me that someone has jacked my coffee from pickup

2 ways a dj can change the world.. 1 Make great music.. 2 Complain about other successful djs.. Oh wait there's only one

The final “nail” in this proverbial coffin, however, would be the classic Twitter troll (though this term is often misused) himself, deadmau5.
Over the course of a couple hours, Mat Zo accused mau5trap A&R of not having ever listened to his album – before retracting that statement based on it never actually being sent to mau5trap, calling him names, and then asking deadmau5 to unblock him so that they could “start working together on making things better instead of fighting”. I think that ship sailed.

Though Joel was equally ignorant telling Mat Zo to start his own label, when Mad Zoo has been in operation since last August, and has already had a tour of its own.

Still, the argument eventually devolved into a tiff between children with baseless insults being slung back and forth. If this is the kind of open-minded discussion that Mat Zo wanted to engage in, then I wouldn’t ever want to see him on a podium.

@Mat_Zo okay, you made your point. We get it. OMG YOU'RE A REVOLUTIONARY! Stop bothering me while all these krewellas and tiestos run amok.

I’ve heard of artists who destroy EDM…. but its kinda refreshing to see EDM wreck the fuck out of an artist from time to time.

I really hope to not be reporting on this again tomorrow. There are better things to focus on. It seems like I might get my wish, but we’ll wait till tomorrow to see.
