Deadmau5‘s annual participation in the Gumball 3000 is a well documented event that puts on display some of the nicest cars in the world, all for a good cause.
This year Zimmerman brought his McLaren 650S and P1 with him, wrapped in minimal “Ace of Spades” and “Queen of Hearts” prints. It seems only natural that his accompanying donations to the Gumball 3000 Foundation would be similarly themed.
For their stop in Las Vegas, where an awards and auction ceremony was held, deadmau5 delivered a signature “Ace of Spades” themed mau5 helmet alongside an autographed drum from Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe. The pair have been enjoying each other’s company on this epic road-trip, and seem to be having quite the time – as evident by this video of them blowing sh*t up in the desert.
The exclusive merchandise ended up selling for a total of $60,000, which is in turn donated to the Gumball 3000 Foundation. The foundation “has been established to benefit underprivileged youth through Education, Infrastructure and Environmental projects.” This translates into the building of skate parks and recreational areas for underprivileged youth in addition to the implementation of educational programs in impoverished areas; something we at Your EDM can definitely get behind.
Major kudos to these two outstanding musicians for their charitable actions, and for having fun while doing it. Check out an image of the donations below, and join in our jealousy of whoever bought that sexy deadmau5 helmet.
