In Kulkid’s cleverly designed CoCo EP, the two tracks of the release are comparable to night and day. Showcasing a range of talent, CoCo includes both seductive house influences as well as an appreciation for orchestra.
As you might have guessed, Ed Sheeran has plenty of baking soda in Kulkid’s Day Version of “CoCo.” In an enthralling arrangement, acoustic guitar and epic string elements lead the track through its journey to find that CoCo on the low-low. After the track’s swelling breakdown, we’re asked to follow a xylophone’s mallet stricken footsteps into dusk.
For the “CoCo” Night Version, Kulkid teams up with the ever talented Bender for a deep house twist. A soulful vocal loop belts out professions of love for the CoCo while anticipating percussion elevates the crowd for a driving house melody rife with chord attacks. Personally, I dig this vibe more than the Day Version, but again… wait for the baking soda.
