There are certain tracks that get remixed to death. I can think of a few off the top of my head – “Sun & Moon,” “Where Are Ü Now,” “Bitch Better Have My Money,” and most relevant to this article, “I Want You To Know.”
Zedd’s single with Selena Gomez brought about a plethora of good (and not-so-good) remixes; everyone from top producers to bedroom tinkerers took a shot at reinterpreting the pop anthem and we’ve been seeing so many submissions for review that it’s tough to even give any of them a second thought. Tough … but not impossible.
James Egbert brought his heavy electro flavor to the table and reminded us all of how Zedd used to be, a fitting strategy to appeal to the widest audience. Without compromising his own sound, James Egbert managed to appeal to nostalgia while remixing the hell out of this collab, absolutely nailing it on every criteria on the board.
