DJ Movie with Zac Efron Gets Release Date

Remember the shitstorm that came after Zac Efron posted a photo of him DJing with Alesso? It was revealed that he was preparing for a movie in which his character is a DJ. It’s called We Are Your Friends, and is a Warner Bros. film about Efron who plays Cole Carter, a DJ trying to make it in L.A. Efron made fast friends with Alesso, Dillon Francis, and Classixx during the film’s production who all taught the actor more about the art of DJing. We Are Your Friends now has a release date: August 28, 2015 (a week before EZoo and other major festivals). Dance music fans will be exceptionally critical of Efron’s performance, as this will be the first non-documentary EDM film to hit the big screen. Personally, I’m more looking forward to the soundtrack of this movie. Warner Bros. would make a killing off tracks from few big names or even a full score from an artist, similar to Daft Punk scoring the Tron: Legacy film in 2012.

The film also stars Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games), Emily Ratajkowski (“Blurred Lines” Music Video), and is directed by Max Joseph from the popular MTV series Catfish.
