The newest track from Major Lazer’s forthcoming third album Peace is the Mission sounds more like a Coldplay song than anything you would normally expect from Major Lazer. But then again, Major Lazer is known for their unpredictability.
The latest single “Powerful” enlists the help of all-star vocalist Ellie Goulding alongside Bronx-born reggae star Tarrus Riley, who gives the male edge to the track.
More ballad than dancehall anthem, “Powerful” will be one of the most easily radio-accessible tracks from the album, possibly a hint that Major Lazer is looking to broaden their reach in the mainstream – something I think the group totally deserves.
