Avicii Inducted Into Shazam Hall Of Fame

In December, Shazam launched its own Hall of Fame to celebrate the world’s biggest songs according to search popularity. The Shazam Hall of Fame is broken up into three tiers ranked by number of searches, with platinum being the créme de la créme at 15 million searches, followed by gold starting at 10 million, then silver at 5 million. So far, only five tracks have made it to the platinum category, including Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used To Know,” Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be,” and Passenger’s “Let Her Go.”

Avicii’s “Wake Me Up!” tops the list with over 20 million searches, making it the most Shazamed song of all time. In today’s world of streaming music and free downloads, this new ranking mechanism may well be more accurate than sales when it comes to tracking song popularity.
