Skrillex, Diplo, and Justin Bieber are now the proud owners of the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart with “Where Are Ü Now.” Damn, that Bieber effect is no joke, ladies and gentlemen.
Now, that statement is taking nothing away from Skrillex and Diplo, who have created an amazing track, and as the Jack Ü collective are pushing boundaries sonically like my boy Guile from Street Fighter. But, seeing that this is the highest that either of them have ever ranked on this chart with their massive list of previous hits, says just a tad about implementing a bit of star power. Don’t believe me? Ask my boys Zedd or Calvin Harris.
Either way, props to Jack Ü, “Where Are Ü Now” has also claimed the No. 2 spot on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Songs Chart (45,000 downloads sold, up 36 percent) and most impressively climbed from 64 to 42 on the Billboard Top 100, also the highest Skrillex and Diplo have ever placed on the chart. In other words, the track is on fire. And nothing, not even Justin Bieber’s lip syncing magic at UMF is going to hold it back.
