Billboard just released the finalists for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards and the DANCE/ELECTRONIC ARTIST category looks pretty interesting.
Billboard does a great job of not pandering to the Top 40 or most popular artists of the day. The artists they’ve chosen are definitely among the broader definition of electronic music, including artists like Clean Bandit and Lindsey Stirling. Calvin Harris receives a nomination following the release of his newest album Motion late last year.
Disclosure and Avicii are interesting choices. Avicii has just come off of a stellar performance at UMF where he unveiled some new material from his upcoming album, as well as hinting at collabs with both Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero; he’s also teased content from his The Days/The Nights EP. Disclosure, on the other hand, haven’t really released anything new in the past 10 months. We know they’ve been at work on their sophomore album, but new content is sparse.
