Move over A-Track, the Queen of the Scratch World is on our decks today. An 18 year veteran, DJ Shortee is recognized as one of the most diverse and technically skilled DJs in the world, spinning everything from electro house, dubstep, drum & bass, glitch hop, trap, and hip hop. Shortee first hit the scene in 1998, debuting on Faust’s Man or Myth album, the first turntablist album ever released. From there, she would go on to produce multiple albums, singles, EPs, remixes and appear on numerous compilations. Throughout her career, she has shared the stage with artists such as KRS One, Method Man and Z-Trip and served as the opening act for Pendulum’s live tour.
Aside from her solo work, Shortee works alongside longtime collaborator Faust as the duo Urban Assault. Their single “Away” was nominated for best jungle/drum n’ bass track at the IDMAs and their Red Raider EP hit #1 on Beatport in 2009. Inspiring future generations of DJs and turntablists, Shortee is also head professor at The Scratch DJ Academy co-founded by Jam Master Jay and wrote the critically acclaimed instructional book Spin Now!: The DJ Starter Handbook.
