There are many events over the course of the year that allows for DJs, producers, management and media to discuss issues du jour and hopefully make a lasting impact on the industry. Examples include Warner Music Conference, Amsterdam Dance Event, and the International Music Summit.
The IMS event due to take place on April 15th in Los Angeles, codename ENGAGE, will feature a stellar lineup of industry notables as well as a few producers that are sure to stir up some controversy (and supply some great sound bites).
Already-announced pairings include outspoken DJ Seth Troxler and hip-hop legend Chuck D, industry icon Lyor Cohen and up and coming manager and mastermind behind Zhu and Krewella, Jake Udell, and nightclub owners Jason Strauss and David Grutman. Two days ago, the fourth and final pairing was announced, “the iconic music producer and arranger Quincy Jones and superstar DJ and recording artist Sebastian Ingrosso.”
It goes without saying that the discussions between these visionaries will bring up important issues facing the scene today. Anything from mainstream vs underground, or the prevailing discussion surrounding women in EDM, could come up.
The full agenda for the event is still forthcoming, and we’ll be sure to bring you post-coverage of the event, as well.
