In just barely more than two weeks (plus one day), the Major Lazer cartoon will premiere on FXX’s Animation Domination block.
The cartoon will feature a great variety of characters and voice actors, including recent Oscar winner J.K. Simmons, as well as guest appearances from Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, Charli XCX, Riff Raff,Andy Samberg and Aziz Ansari. Known for his role on LOST, actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will voice Major Lazer for the cartoon.
“It’s been almost five years in the making,” Diplo tells Billboard, “but it was worth it to have such a succinct TV show for our music fans and cartoon fans alike.”
In the video below, Diplo talks about his Jamaican influences and the impact of growing up in south Florida with Haitian and Cuban culture. The video shows small snippets of the show, which will premiere Thursday, April 16, at midnight, as part of Animation Domination on FXX.
