In spite of its lack of huge synths or hard kicks, “This Could Be Love” is easily categorized as a dance hit. Sitting neatly at nearly 2.5 million hits on YouTube and almost 400k on SoundCloud, the track has garnered attention from some of the biggest names in house for its mellow atmosphere and subtle progression. Remixes, too, have been coming in swift from the likes of Halogen X Chris & Janzen, Ryos, Steve James and more. Now, we’ve got a new contender from Dave Edwards, bringing in that incredible prog house sound and demonstrating his talent as a producer.
Where the original was slower, softer and more reserved, Dave Edwards’ remix goes full-force with an incredibly catchy synth hook in the drop as well as a heavy dose of natural piano chords and that classic prog house progression. Delaney Jane’s vocals are still salient and rearranged in the way that most perfectly fits the overall vibe of the remix. While the remix from Ryos, who won the official remix contest a month ago, embodies elements of prog house, it’s core takeaway is a more electro sound. In comparison, Dave Edwards’ sound is unmistakably within the true progressive house realm.
