Daft Punk Appear In Wooden Carvings

Thomas Bangalter & Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, otherwise known as Daft Punk, are known for their secrecy – or rather, their unwillingness to be seen without their helmets. Then again, that’s just when they’re portraying “Daft Punk.” Even Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta comes out of her shell every once in a while (Lady Gaga).

Sculptor Xavier Veilhan, whose new collection is “inspired by the parallels Veilhan saw between music producers and visual artists,” was lucky to receive Bangalter and de Homem-Christo as subjects. Furthermore, it seems the two were more than willing to do the whole affair without their masks.

The funny thing is I didn’t even ask them, [says] Veilhan. It was a very logical response to my proposal: I proposed to introduce them as producers, not as musicians, and so after talking to them, we decided that they should appear with their civilian names. […] They proposed to me: ‘Okay, we should make the sculpture the non-existing image of us. So if somebody wants to see how we are like in real [life] they’ll have to look at the sculpture.’
