It should no longer come as a surprise when Matoma releases a track and it becomes your momentarily favorite song for at least four or five minutes. Alternating between his tropical reworks of classic hip-hop songs, he has now put his own spin on the indie-pop song “Geronimo”, by the Australian group Sheppard.
Contrary to the usual release from Matoma, he went a slightly different direction in this remix. It is more of an ambient chillout song than his typical uptempo tropical sound. There are tropical influences, but much less so than usual. The song starts with an airy, atmospheric synth before a guitar ups the energy and the vocals commence, eventually climaxing with the chorus line repeating over drums and a tangy synth melody. Matoma just does not disappoint.
