New Las Vegas Golf Facility Will Have Live Music & DJs

I remember going to golf camp when I was younger. I was with a bunch of other young teenagers with rented clubs from the pro shop and a grizzled old man in his late 50s, likely a failed pro player himself, would repeatedly tell us how to putt correctly. Though I enjoyed the game, it was my desire to only visit the driving range and smash the balls as hard as possible, just to see how far they could go. Even now, I will go to a driving range every so often with my similarly grizzled and ancient wooden driver to relieve some stress. (Seriously, you should try it. It’s fantastic.)

In 2000, a company named Top Golf set up shop in the UK and quickly expanded to the US, where they made their headquarters in Texas. With 13 facilities as of right now, and a growing revenue stream and popularity, they are looking toward Las Vegas as their next frontier. Scott Sibella, president and COO of MGM Grand, says that the new Top Golf site, to be nestled behind MGM Grand’s convention space, will be the company’s new flagship location.

The “driving range,” if that term even applies to this monstrosity anymore, will measure “105,000 square feet spread across eight acres. Golfers will have access to 102 hitting bays on three different levels.”

Of course, this is Vegas. While the sports are nice, the amenities are nicer – created by YWS, the team behind Hakkasan. (Yeah… you read that right.)

[T]here will be a VIP area on a fourth level, featuring cabanas surrounding a water feature. Also, all four levels will have a bar—which will serve such concoctions as a Melon Mulligan out of a souvenir golf-bag glass—and there will be a full-service restaurant, a “locals lounge,” a stage for live music and, yes, a DJ.

It’s kind of impossible to really tell how this will play out as it’s the only driving range with an accompanying soundtrack that I know of. There’s nothing to compare it to.

As EDMsauce so wonderfully put it, “Who knows, maybe in the future you’ll be getting the after party from EDC on the driving range.”
