Beginning around the earlier part of 2007 as a resident DJ in Lithuania, fast rising Trance artist Nick Karsten has been slowly but surely building his craft within the production side of things with a handful of quality releases on some of the most consistent record labels on the planet dedicated to showcasing the true side of Trance. In the beginning of his production career, he was making demos well into 2011 and 2012, but his first official release entitled Love Is Gone was quickly snapped up by Kyau & Albert‘s Euphonic imprint roughly 9 months ago. Fast forward to October 2014, and we see him with a brilliant debut on Always Alive Recordings with his singles of Dunno and New Era, and Karsten is well on his way to become groomed to be a new force within the Progressive Trance community. From our eyes, Daniel Kandi saw great potential in this young producer and gave him a shot on his imprint, which was swiftly supported by the likes of Cosmic Gate, Bjorn Akesson, Colonial One, Aruna and much much more. We here at Your EDM first caught wind of this young artist’s talents with Dunno and we have been eagerly waiting to see what his next move would be production-wise. While things have been relatively quiet on his end as of late, he is the type of producer who focuses on quality and not quantity, and his newest release on Always Alive Recordings entitled Swinger has all the makings of a single that was rigorously crafted with relentless attention to detail and incredible timbral implementations.

As we conducted further research of artists who have supported Swinger, we started to see more and more influential names start to pop up, including Ferry Corsten, Super8 & Tab and Ben Gold. And it’s no wonder why more and more artists are attracted to his sound, because his unusual construction of Pure Trance within a Progressive House style arrangement accomplishes what so many currently fail to do so currently. It’s true that many other artists attempt to create this style of music in their own productions, but many simply fail to really gain any real traction in terms of punch, depth and overall impact. However, Swinger manages to truly capture the essence of Trance that has become a staple of the Prog community while revitalizing it with a fresh perspective on melodies, harmonies and timbral arrangement, and this innovative new way of thinking has chiefly skyrocketed his abilities as an upcoming audio engineer. While the beginning still sticks true to the ‘Always Alive‘ sound, it still hits hard with relentless energy and boundless power within its supercharged basslines and thunderous percussion sections. In the breakdown, the ticking of a timebomb keeps the beat in check while twinkling synths and thick pads permeate the soundscape with an aura of warmth and radiance. With a prime declaration with mainline synths, the signal of funky slap bass pulls us through to the main section of the piece, where slamming Prog House percussions and Electro whirls are added for color while the main Trance synths chug away with a powerfully euphoric melody that seems to sing with a bold concourse of hope and grace through its electrifying synapses.

Nick Karsten‘s newest single of Swinger is now available on Always Alive Recordings, so make sure you purchase a copy and support real talent!
