Still in a thick fog from all your weekend shenanigans? Then SAYER‘s new track will quite literally be music to your ears. The Bay Area beat-freak took a slightly more mellow approach for this one, but ‘Haze’ still resonates with his grime fueled, hyphy sound. A bit reminiscent of G Jones, the tune is filled with gritty, sawing synths and choppy, off beat drum patterns. In fact, the drums are really the unsung heroes here; the lilting arrangement and switch ups from hard kicks to 808s lend a supremely wonky feel to the beat. It feels much looser than a more grid-like pattern would, giving the synths room to shine.
