It’s no secret that Hardwell is a titan of the EDM scene, so it’s refreshing to see him supporting the next wave of talent to hit the industry. In a recent interview with Capital Xtra, the Dutch producer listed five of his favorite up & coming acts: Julian Calor, Thomas Newson, Kill the Buzz, DallasK, and Joey Dale. According to Hardwell, each of these artists brings something new to the table, a flair that will take this music to the next level. Given that they already have the support of this dance music icon, we’d say they’re already well on their way to stardom.
1.) Julian Calor
First and foremost on his list was Julian Calor, a relative newcomer to the scene who’s already made some big moves for himself; his tunes have been featured on Pete Tong‘s legendary radio show and in Hardwell‘s TomorrowWorld set, as well as making it into the Beatport Top 10. Hardwell compares his sound that of “Deadmau5 back in the day” and is especially impressed by Calor‘s use of chords.
2.) Kill the Buzz
Number two on the list was Kill the Buzz, a long-time friend of Hardwell‘s with a dance-floor friendly big room style. He is signed to Revealed Recordings and has released a steady stream of originals, remixes, and collaborations since his debut in 2012.
3.) DallasK
While this Los Angeles native has already made a name for himself in the industry, Hardwell believes this will be the year of DallasK. The two met back in 2012 and have stayed in touch ever since; in fact, it was DallasK who gave him the idea for their smashing collaboration, ‘Area 51’.
4.) Joey Dale
Another newcomer on the scene, Joey Dale had his first release on Spinnin Records in 2013 and has been churning out music ever since. It’s no surprise he made this list as he and Hardwell have already collaborated on the progressive tune, ‘Arcadia’, not to mention his releases on Revealed Recordings.
5.) Thomas Newson
Last but not least for Hardwell‘s top five is Thomas Newson. He’s the son of trance legend, Marco V, and if his name on this list isn’t indication enough, he clearly learned a lot from his father. Described as ‘energetic’ and ‘diverse’, the Dutch music maker already has a handful of hits under his belt, including the extremely well received ‘Flute’ with New World Sound.
