Glow headphones might be the most technologically innovative way to listen to music. Positioning itself as the first “smart headphones with laser light,” Glow features glow-in-the-dark cords that pulsate vibrant laser light in rhythm to sounds of your music, and possibly even your heartbeat. And in just a few days, the Glow Kickstarter campaign has already raised over $290,000 in funds.
The idea of the headphones came from a product marketing manager at Google, Zi Wang, who noticed that the 98% of audio accessories were catered for iOS, where the accessory features such as volume control and play/pause music don’t always work properly on Android devices. Glow is initially optimized specifically for Android devices, and the headphones’ 5-way remote would allow users to control volume, answer calls and activate voice controls. And with the new Fibrance technology, the headphone wires are made of glass optical fibers that remain flexible while illuminating light. As for sound quality, Glow is working with Knowles — the brand who works with high-quality audio product such as Sennheiser.
The market price of these headphones is estimated to be around $150-$200, but the steep price may be worth it for the headphones’ high-tech, cool factor.
