Voting is underway for the remix contest wherein producers will remix a remix. That’s right, Beatport and Dillon Francis want you to remix his remix of deadmau5’s “Some Chords.” (That’s a damn mouthful, innit?)
There are likely thousands upon hundreds of entries, and it’s difficult to narrow it down, so I’d like to help just a bit.
AgNO3 has created a rendition of the remix/original that relies heavily on the original melodic progression, but still retains a good amount of the flavor that Dillon Francis was able to infuse. Starting out very quiet and building steadily, a piano medley breaks the tone at first, leading into a very heavy electro drop. It sounds a lot like what deadmau5 and Dillon Francis might create if they actually collaborated, a fiercely melodic electrohouse tune with massive, canorous breaks leading back into the piano+drop combo.
I do wish that the mixing was a little bit louder in the climax, but overall, this is one of the better remixes in the contest at the moment. You can vote for AgNO3 on Beatport’s contest page – HERE.
