Darude’s “Sanstorm” has achieved what few other tracks and songs have been capable of doing. For the past few years, it has joined the ranks of an ever growing list of infamous memes. That being said, that doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy it for its melody, musicality and overall quality. It’s exactly with that in mind that the Accordion Orchestra of Munich’s Accordion Quintet group decided to recreate the piece. Their version was thankfully recorded for all to see on YouTube, and apparently already made it to the front page of reddit. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the second of half of 2014 definitely saw a resurgence of Sandstorm with the Peking Duk duo playing it at Stereosonic and house-owners syncing their Christmas lights to the song. Only time will tell whether Darude’s 15 year old classic will keep on living throughout this upcoming year.
