We hope you’re in the mood for something out of the ordinary, because what we have here is some truly exotic bass music. Meet Liquid Rockz, a collective of artists from Hamburg, Germany; recommended to us by our friends at Saturate! Records, these supremely talented up & comers have developed a musical style that is very much their own; and let us say, it is straight up otherworldly.
Their latest EP, Gringo, showcases this alien blend of sound through nine tracks of dance floor bliss. Club beats inspired by the Jersey and B-more scenes are melded with South American melodies and filtered through the dark grittiness of Germany’s underground electronic vibe. This makes for an ever shifting soundscape of cumbia-infused trap and future dub. Thumping, slumping bass lines, trippy melodies, and shimmering synths mixed with saturated, ethnic vocal moaning pulsates and pops throughout the album to the point where the replay button seems like a gift from the heavens.
