The Daily Mail recently reported on the Islamic State’s punishing actions towards musicians in Syria. According to a series of videos and images, the Islamic State’s religious police can be seen repeatedly beating artists and musicians for playing an “un-Islamic” electronic keyboard.
The instruments in question were ruled to be “offensive to Muslims” and thus were destroyed as their owners were sentenced to 90 lashes with a wooden stick. The beating happened in Bujaq, Syria and are further illustrative of the harsh rule imposed by the Islamic State, more popularly known as ISIS, throughout the region.
The group’s enforcing of Sharia law has resulted in a number of atrocities, such as the killing by firing squad of 13 youngsters for having watched an Asian Cup football match between Iraq and Jordan.
