I’ve known of Topher Jones for a while now, but nothing like the way I’m seeing him now. After gaining success with tracks like “Brohammer” and “Hello Chicago,” Topher toured with Morgan Page and Tritonal, as well as performing in festivals around the country. Recently, he has decided to rebrand and reinvent himself as King Arthur, a much more experimental persona. First, he began with a remix of Disclosure’s “Latch,” but now that his feet are in the water, it’s time to make a splash.
“Kids of the Dark,” the first original release, features Ryan Sill, one of the finalists from the most recent season of NBC’s The Voice. The original track begins as a beautiful piano ballad, before the rest of the tracks kick in. Ryan’s voice is a perfect fit for the track, as he’s mindful to not overpower the song with his voice. Accompanying “Kids of the Dark” are also three mixes: an Instrumental, Future, and Sunrise Mix. The latter is a personal favorite, a great blend of house music and the timeless ballad. But that’s not to lessen the other mixes; on the future mix Topher brings trades in the piano, to bring the track up to speed with current dance music trends. Overall, it’s a smart foot off the ground for King Arthur, fans of all tastes should be satisfied by any version of “Kids of the Dark.”
“Kids of the Dark” and all its mixes are available now on iTunes.
