Deadmau5, Armin Van Buuren & Knife Party Cost More To See Than A Festival

It’s no secret that ticket prices have seen a dramatic increase over the last several years. In fact, I remember when you could go to a show for $10 and still have the best seats in the house. One of the byproducts of EDM’s success is that, naturally, ticket prices will also rise. But there comes a point where companies and promoters take it to far, and jack the prices up so high they are way above market value.

This seems to be the case for the final weekend of the iconic club, The Guvernment. For those who don’t know, The Guvernment will be shutting down and as a final goodbye, their last weekend will be headlined by Deadmau5, Armin Van Buuren and Knife Party.

Deadmau5, Armin Van Buuren and Knife party are all fantastic and huge headliners but, to see all 3 in what is being called a “Mega Ticket”, you need to spend $500. That’s right, for the price of a festival you can see 3 acts at an over crowded club. With single tickets going for around $100 dollars, it would simply be cheaper to purchase each ticket individually.

However, The Guvernment has decided that their final weekend is at the same market value as a ticket to Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, and pretty much any other festival that features over 20 artists each. Clearly a marketing move to capitalize on the final goodbye, The Guvernment was met immediately with backlash as users took to social media to voice their protest.

For a point of reference, tickets to Ultra Music Festival are $450 dollars and feature over 60 artists.

Whether you think 3 EDM acts is worth a total $500 or not, the pricing is simply absurd. You can check out their announcement below and if you REALLY actually want to…. you can buy tickets this upcoming monday:
