Martin Garrix Dominates 2014, Deep House Most Popular Genre According to Beatport

Beatport has released their top 20 tracks and artists of 2014 as well as the top ten genres of the year. To be met with some surprise for the top tracks, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, and Oliver Heldens all fell short of number one.

Oliver $ and Jimi Jules instead claimed the number one spot with their release on Defected Records, “Pushing On.” The deep house anthem is one of the catchiest and most dance-inspiring tracks of the year, featuring timeless vocals and an unparalleled groove.

Coming second is Oliver Heldens hit “Gecko” followed by Robin Schulz remix of “Waves” by Mr. Probz; it becomes quickly apparent that deep house and tech house reign as the favorite genres of 2014.

The top ten performers, meanwhile, is a more expected collection of artists. With Martin Garrix finding his way to the number one spot over the esteemed Hardwell, the two dutchman preceed Oliver Heldens, R3hab, and David Guetta to make the top five. Check out the full list below:
