If one thing is certain, it’s that ONHELL has been on absolute fire lately. From the release of his sophomore EP Simple Stare to curating an entire compilation album for his new record label, the output of this Arcata-based beat hustler is as exciting as it is impressive. And now, to continue the streak, he’s released a ridiculously sexy remix of Mariah Carey‘s smash hit, ‘Shake It Off’.
While admittedly much more solemn than the original, ONHELL‘s re-imagining of this pop classic resonates with the sounds of psychedelic future R&B. The song starts slowly, steadily progressing through airy and melodic synth stabs until arriving at the intelligently turnt climax, where booming 808s and glitchy vocal chops take control of your senses. All the while, Mariah‘s gorgeous voice twists and turns across the bed of ONHELL‘s stellar production. Needless to say, this one is a certified panty-dropper.
