As far as experimental, forward thinking bass music goes, Northern California is a beat freak’s Mecca. There’s always something genre-bending bumping through the mists; today, that something is Comicarion Vol. 1, the first compilation album from Phantom Wave Records.
Featuring a slew of supremely talented underground producers like ONHELL, BOATS, Hypha, and Seatones, Comicarion Vol. 1, is a journey through the spectrum of low-end heavy electronica. From grimy garage and dubstep rhythms, to ambient soundscapes, to some of the most psychedelic trap we’ve heard thus far, the sounds and vibes here are on point. Each tune has its own unique flair and tells its own story. The artists put in a ton of work to make sure the music had a life of its own and it definitely paid off. Phantom Wave Records may be a new label, but they’ve hit the ground running and we can’t wait to hear more from them.
