David Guetta Sits at the Top of Billboard’s Dance Music Album Chart

Parisian superstar David Guetta has had a very interesting year in terms of music and personal life. As Guetta finished riding the successful coattail of his previous album Nothing But The Beat, he began to make new singles and collaborations such as “A’int A Party” with Glowinthedark, “Shot Me Down” with Skylar Grey, “Bad” with Showtek, and “Blast Off” by Kaz James in the first half of the year. He even released a remix of “Addicted To You” by Avicii and “Ten Feet Tall” by Afrojack which were both singles for each artist.

Unfortunately, David split from his twenty-two year marriage with his wife Cathy Lobé back in March. He continues to battle over thirty-million dollars worth of finances against her while working on more music. Many people believed the effects of the divorce to be a major factor when he performed on the main stage of Tomorrowland and gave a blank stare to the camera back in July. After being turned into a meme of sorts and dealing with the divorce, he continued to create music and announced the coming of his album Listen, which the second half of 2014 was about for him. He came out with two singles from the album called “Lovers On the Sun” and “Dangerous” and now has something new to celebrate over.

After selling over 25,000 units in its first week alone, Listen has earned its spot as the number one album on the Dance/Electronic albums charts according to Billboard. He has seen this success before in 2011 with his previous album and is back at it with plenty of collaborations with artists he has worked before with (Nicki Minaj, Sia, Afrojack) and with new artists (The Script, Ryan Tedder, John Legend). With fourteen songs on the album, I wouldn’t be surprise to see this album drag out as long as Nothing But The Beat did between 2011 and 2013.
