2015 Grammy Nominations Announced

Many fresh faces have made the shortlist for the 2015 Grammy Awards. While the major categories were announced on television earlier today, the Dance music categories have been recently announced in a secondary broadcast.

Deadmau5 has snagged his third nomination in four years for Best Dance/Electronic Album for While (1>2). He now ties Daft Punk with three nominations, only one behind The Chemical Brothers. In both previous years Deadmau5 was beaten by Skrillex, who missed out on this year’s nominations. Instead, Deadmau5 will have to go up against Aphex Twin (Syro) , Little Dragon (Nabuma Rubberband), Royksopp & Robyn (Do It Again), and first time nominee Mat Zo for his debut album Damage Control.

Kaskade and Tiesto also return to the shortlist with nominations in best Remixed Recording, Non Classical category. Tiesto received a nom for his Birthday Treatment Remix of John Legend‘s “All of Me” and Kaskade received one for his edit of Galantis‘ “Smile.” It’s the inclusion of Audien, for his overwhelmingly popular remix of Bastille‘s “Pompeii” that really makes this category a tight race. This is Audien’s first Grammy nomination for a song that was easily one of the most played tracks of the year. Rounding out the category are remixes from Robin Schulz and Eddie Amador.

Speaking of monstrous songs from 2014, Zhu has topped off a fairytale year with a nomination for Best Dance Recording for “Faded.” In another close category, Zhu will compete against Basement Jaxx (“Never Say Never”), Clean Bandit and Jess Glynn (“Rather Be”), Mary J. Blige & Disclosure (“F For You”), and fellow first timer Duke Dumont (“I Got You”).

Rounding out this year’s Grammy noms is the incredibly outlandlish music video for DJ Snake & Lil Jon‘s “Turn Down For What,” which has been selected for Best Music Video, alongside Arcade Fire, Sia, Pharrell Williams, and Woodkid.

The 57th annual Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 8, 2015. For the full list of nominees visit the website here.
