Pioneer Ditches CDs For The XDJ-1000

“Moore’s law” is the observation that, over the history of computing hardware, the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years. Essentially, every two years, computers become twice as powerful as the previous generation. I bring this up to highlight the pace at which technology is always improving – while we might not be seeing the technology revolution of the ’70s and ’80s, advancements in microprocessing and UI development have influenced design and computing speed for at least the last 10 years.

The CDJ-2000 was released by Pioneer in 2009 and since then has been the top choice for a majority of producers/DJs. However, the CD functionality of the popular digital turntable has been of consistently less use in the past couple of years, giving way more and more to flash drives/USB sticks. Enter, the XDJ-1000.

Based on its industry standard CDJ range the new XDJ-1000 features a new 7 inch full colour touch screen display plus a host of other new features. The XDJ works perfectly with Rekordbox and tracks can be loaded via USB or Wi-Fi. Looking rather snazzy with a host of top-flight features the XDJ-1000 is no doubt a nice bit of kit. The new features are indeed most welcomed and something that has been asked for by many CDJ-2000 users for sometime.
