A common problem at festivals is staying in touch with friends and being able to stay connected. To help remedy this, “Firechat,” the app known for its use at Burning Man and Hong Kong’s anti-government protests, is here to provide a solution. Essentially what the app does is it creates a mesh network between phones that functions independently separate of phone carriers. The network utilizes Bluetooth and wireless technologies allowing it to be set up almost anywhere. While this may not sound like such a huge thing this could be big for fans travelling to foreign countries who don’t want to or can’t afford to pay the large phone bills roaming usually caries. In the coming years it is likely you will see further integration of this technology in one form or another at shows.
