A couple weeks ago, Slander posted this teaser on their Facebook for a track called “Ascension.”
Today, this massive collab with NGHTMRE is finally released and let me tell you, you aren’t ready. The Los Angeles duo has made huge waves this year and seeing as this is their first debut single, with already 200k fan on Facebook, they must be doing something right. Yeah – that’s right. This is Slander’s first original track and what a way to make their mark.
I have to say right off the bat that this track takes influences from so many places at once — I can hear instances of prog house in the melodic piano build, Snails or Botnek in the drop, Lil Jon as the vocal sample, big room kicks in the very beginning — influences from trap, house and dubstep all rolled into this one massive track that is meant to do one thing: get people moving. I know that’s said about every track, I know. Listen to “Ascension” and you’ll understand, though.
It’s a beautiful track in its own right. The sound design and progression of the song are on point, the energy is contagious and it just sounds incredible. All of this, and they’re still giving it away for free.
