Although Calvin Harris canceled his appearance at the MTV EMA’s due to sickness, that did not stop him from winning best Electronic Artist this year. This year Calvin competed against Hardwell, David Guetta, Avicii and more to win the award and marks his first victory in over 4 nominations.
The victories come off the fresh launch of his new album, Motion, which already has 4 songs charting on the Billboard top 100. Although the MTV EMA’s carry almost as much weight as the DJ mag competition, their importance to the main stream culture is significantly higher then it’s counterparts. It must come as a surprise that MTV is still relevant but it has proven to be a successful portal to a new demographic of potential fans.
