Ultra Music Festival has been slapped with a $10 million lawsuit on behalf of a worker who was trampled at the festival this year.
On the first day of the festival, security guard Erica Mack was crushed and critically injured by a hoarde of gate-jumpers trying to break through the security fence around the perimeter of Bayfront Park. Various Miami politicians, including the mayor and city commissioner, subsequently tried to get UMF banned from Miami, citing the incident. Now, Mack is suing the festival organizer to the tune of $10 million. This Monday, she will speak out for the first time since her near-death injury to shed some more light on the nature of the lawsuit. 
Ultra has said that “the complaint [Mack’s] lawyers have now filed as part of a lawsuit does not properly recite the facts of the unfortunate accident,” and that “event organizers believe that the incident was caused by illegal actions of unknown third parties for which it is not responsible.”

When it all comes down to it, ULTRA blows anyways for their outrageous ticket prices, and now they are responsible for an employee getting fucked up because they couldn’t simply make it safer and more SECURE!! This is their job and all the blame should be on Ultra. You think they’d be able to beef up security and even gates when it comes to this matter. But they don’t care, all they give a fuck about it taking everybody’s money until the end of March!! They better just pay her off, if they know what’s good for them. They should’ve already seen it coming, ALL OF IT!!
They knew the fence was weak at certain points and didn’t do anything about it. She’s going to win.
She’s stupid, I mean, it sort of comes with the job. Can’t always expect a festival to run smoothly or people to act properly, that’s why people like her are hired to do her job, not Ultras fault she wasn’t capable enough to do her duties.
The question or determination that will need to be made is who is ‘liable’ for the setup/installation of the security fence and if the proper ‘fencing’ was used. If history at these events shows that there are frequent ‘fence jumpers’ AND if the UMF promoter(s) were responsible for the fence and it’s setup then they maybe liable for using a insufficient fence. Although I do agree that they shouldn’t be responsible for the illegal actions of others but if history indicates this behavior in the past UMF would be responsible for using sufficient fencing.
The festival organizers were made aware of the weak spot in the fence and ordered to enforce the area. Which they didn’t. This could have been avoided. I hope they pay her.
everybody wants money…. she will get something…. they should have provided way more security…. a festival of that size and all the money going into it I think they could have afforded more security.

I think what’s to blame for the trampling is the atmosphere at music festivals and concerts changing from one where concert-goers generally respected one another to a vapid consumerist shite show of overpriced tickets, overpriced drugs and alcohol and matchy store-bought rave outfits, where the point is less to enjoy the music than to Instagram your entire experience. As far as who’s legally liable, it’s a gray area–Ultra ultimately can’t control the concert-goers, but since it would be impossible to track down and sue every individual who was involved, they’re left holding the bag.
Girl is a security guard, you are hired to keep the peace and maintain order but RULE 1 is look out for your own personal safety. She decided to stick around long after she should have packed it in and told the higher ups its just plain not safe. Should she get some compensation for the festivals lax security measures sure. Will she get 10 million dollars for being mentally retarded and now being physically retarded due to no fault but her own. HELL NO.
As someone whose thrown a number of events, and worked the gate at so many more, I’ve only seen this shit happen in circumstances where a huge crowd was subjected to a slow line the cause of which being a disorgnized gate
The festival is definitely not responsible for that, she knew the risks when she decided to be a security guard at a festival, and the fact that she is putting the blame on the festival and suing them is absolutely ridiculous. Take your own blame, instead of putting the blame on something/someone else.
