There is so much that could be said about Pyramid Scheme‘s “Microphones,” but with every listen, we find ourselves to be speechless. The Atlanta duo has made a name for themselves from their IDM approach to hip-hop inspired dance music and while every other 808 wielding warlock on the block goes big room when they show fatigue from running the trap, Pyramid Scheme has come out with this tune like, “F*ck your house. We built a mansion.”
The track features the intoxicating vocals of Jesse Cochran, which are layered perfectly over a live acoustic guitar and provide for a gothic warmth that is reminiscent of turn of the millennium post-punk. The verses are a perfect juxtaposition of organic sounds against the digital drop, whose stringed melody will latch onto your brain like a basic bitch dating a Starbucks executive.
