Trap music is going in a million different directions from the hybrid sounds that mix dubstep and hip-hop to the more emotive style that we see out of What So Not and Slander. While the 808s are pulled every which way, you can always count on some old school souls to surface and bring the tunes back to their southern origins. One of these characters is the hip hop producer known as J. Padron, who has worked extensively with many big Atlanta rappers such as T.I., 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, and Wiz Khalifa. He has recently crossed over to the dark side and brought his hip-hop stylings to the EDM world with a big tune entitled “Bando$.”
For his first trap original, J. Padron brings it back home and solicits verses from Migos and Trinidad Jame$ while taking a more lyrical approach to the track. We’ve seen more rapping coming on tunes by Flosstradamus and Carnage lately and with Waka Flocka Flame now playing EDM festivals, vocal trap music will soon be a sub-genre of it’s own. No, rap vocals on a trap beat and “rap” are not the same thing. Expect more vocal chops, pitching, and more post-production that puts an emphasis on the general rhythm and melody than the spoken lyrics themselves. We’re excited to see what comes out of J.
