I have been awaiting the arrival of a decent deep house remix of a tune from Swedish indie-folk artist José González, but this is more than decent. Vienna producer filous teamed up with hometown neighbor Mount on their first ever collaboration; a remix of José’s cover of the popular song from the Knife “Heartbeats”. However, in using the cover rather than the original, it focuses more on the acoustic instrumentation presented by Mr. González and eliminates the hard electronic noises that this song was born from. In doing so, filous and Mount deliver the blessed side of deep house shown through guitar, piano, and snaps. The chords settle in with steady beat to create a sense of serenity for this four-minute musical journey.
In other news, this remix is available as a free download from filous’s SoundCloud and definitely worth more than just a listen.
