Avicii’s Growing Health Problems And Newest Single

Avicii 2 - Your EDM

The web has been buzzing for weeks now over Avicii’s alleged eerie health concerns that have now grown into an extended period of down time, off the road, resting back home in Stockholm. The first signs of Tim’s health complications came as a surprise to all of us back in mid 2011 when he was hospitalized for 11 consecutive days with acute pancreatitis in New York. The health scare then was attributed to heavy drinking brought on by the nightlife he was living at the plethora of shows and clubs he was performing at. Following that initial health scare, Avicii’s situation flared up again in March of 2013 which left him with a few cancelled shows and a decision pushed upon him by doctors to have his gallbladder removed. Being Avicii and the huge EDM star he is, there is no rest for the wicked, he declined as his “True” album was set to release in September and after its release went on to topple charts worldwide.

We all remember his random absence from Ultra Music Festival this year. In the moment no one had any knowledge as to why the plug was pulled on his performance until news struck us like a train. Stemming from, of course, health conditions that had never been solved but solely masked to continue his reign over the scene Avicii was hospitalized and it later became apparent that not only were his previous pancreas conditions returning but his appendix had burst (not “bursted”).

Following his UMF fiasco, Tim made a conscious decision to have his gallbladder and appendix removed; but did not take the necessary time to let the operation fully heal and his body become accustomed to the changes which led to his most recent absence. He was forced to withdraw from his headlining appearance at TomorrowWorld and his performance in Shanghai at Storm Festival.

Although these health issues should have not been pushed to the way-side, Tim states after calling off his Ultra performance, “I took a month off, but it wasn’t really a month off, I was in the studio 12 hours a day, and then went right back to touring. It’s hard to say no in this industry. You want to play everything and be everywhere.” This is probably a key component to his health even further deteriorating.

His troubles at TomorrowWorld drew the line to not cross, Tim is taking an extended break from the, “be everywhere and play everything” lifestyle he had become so identified with to fully heal from his operation and have a little downtown from the stressful yet rewarding career he is in. He says, “Taking a break was the absolute best thing I’ve done. I’m doing better and better.” He is spending time with family, friends and his girlfriend Racquel Bettencourt.

Now don’t be sad, Avicii will never cease to exist in the community, although he is in a current state of hiatus, Avicii has released a single, “The Days”, which is a new turn for the Swedish producer. Always experimenting Tim is moving from Country to more of a 1980’s “hair metal band” partnering up with Robbie Williams on vocals to bring you an awesomely upbeat Rock-Pop-House combo that hits in all the right feels which you can listen to below.

Now before Avicii goes on to make history again in the Dance music, his manager Ash Pournouri says, “we’ll hold everything off until Tim is completely back on track” and “we’re not going to make any presumptions about when that will happen. We’re just keeping an eye on him and when he’s going to be completely healthy so we don’t have to deal with any of this ever again.”

And as far as Avicii is concerned, “for once in my life, I don’t feel the rush to do anything. I can take my time and focus 100 percent on the album, which has always been where my first passion really lies — in the music.”
