One of Canada’s hottest duos are consisted of producers Hooks and DC; also known as Zeds Dead. This year has been particularly exciting as they have released several singles leading up to their massive Something Else EP released in the later end of this past summer. They’ve also been rocking and smashing every venue with bass-heavy music across North America.
One such tour they have absolutely ruled is the seventh annual Mad Decent Block Party. Alongside names like Diplo, OutKast, Fatboy Slim, Laidback Luke, Jack Ü, Wolfgang Gartner, Flux Pavilion, DJ Snake, and many more, DC and Hooks landed in 10 cities with ground-shaking results. However, this tour will officially wrap up this Sunday in British Columbia and take a month off to prepare for the Mad Decent Boat Party launching on November 12th and sailing through the 16th (which Zeds Dead will also be apart of).
In order to summarize the superb vibes of the exponentially growing MDBP, Zeds Dead have partnered with iHome to release an incredible one-hour mix of all the music they’ve been playing on the tour. They kick off with their collaboration with Twin Shadow and D’Angelo Lacy “Lost You” to insert the deep house atmosphere. They lead into Tchami‘s “Promeses” and to their original track”Bustamove”. It teases listeners with oldies’ song “Superbad” by Tony Quattro and switches right into “Make The Club Go” by Sydney Samson and goes into the massive “Satisfy” by Nero. Throughout the mix, we hear big players from Dillon Francis, Tommy Trash, Boys Noize, Rusko, and Benga to rising stars Sleepy Tom, Slumberjack, Weiss, Robosonic, and DJ Koze with their tunes flowing excellently between each other.
With another amazing mix that models many of their magnificent live performances and previous mixes, the iHome X Mad Decent Block Party throws a variety of different genres into one, tenacious hour. It is also available as a free download if you want to melt your face off with hard-hitting beats. After hearing this mix, I wouldn’t be surprised if anyone and everyone would want to catch Zeds Dead live. The good news is that the Canadian duo is still on their Somewhere Else Tour in support of their latest extended play. Catch them here and let us know what you think of the mix.
